How to: Green or Golden Dragon 119
Here’s a quick guide on making Green or Golden Dragon with your weed or vaped remains. Green Dragon is a liquid extraction of fresh Cannabis while Golden Dragon is a liquid extraction of vaped remains. You can drop the liquid extract in any food or drink and get a great high. I’ll outline the process as simply as possible. It may look complex, but it’s actually quite easy.
What you need:
- A flat pan that can hold about 2 inches of water
- High proof alcohol, the higher the better. We use Bacardi 151 which is 75.5% alcohol.
- Cannabis (3.5 grams of good quality) or vaped remains (7 grams)
- A small jar
- A cooking thermometer
- A filtering device – coffee filters work great
- Something to dump the filtered liquid into (jar, bowl, etc.)
* You must use alcohol which is intended for consumption.
(don’t use isopropyl and etc.)
Green Dragon with Fresh Weed
For Green Dragon, it is best to use about an eighth (3.5 grams) with 2 ounces of your high grade alcohol. You’ll need to decarboxylate the bud before continuing. This is pretty simple and can be done in the oven.
- Grind up the Cannabis
- Place in a pan in the oven at 325°F for 5 minutes and prepare for your kitchen to smell strongly of weed
Don’t worry about burning it or losing potency. It’s not hot enough for those things to happen. Remove your Cannabis from the oven and continue with Golden Dragon steps (except you’ll be using your weed from the oven of course). We don’t need to do this with vaped remains because they’re already decarboxylated from the heat of the vaporizer.
Golden Dragon with Vaped Remains
- Fill up the pan with about 2 inches of water and begin to boil it
- In the jar, mix about 7 grams of vaporized remains with 3.5-4 ounces of the alcohol
- Place the jar in the boiling water and maintain the temperature of the Cannabis/rum mixture at 170°F for 20 minutes – you want the mixture to simmer but not boil fast
- Remove mixture and strain out the liquid into a cup
That’s all it takes. Now you can move the liquid to a tincture and have an extremely easy, portable, and stealthy way to get high. And yes, these tinctures have the potential to get you really high.
Update:
So some people in the comments were wondering about the dosage. Keep in mind that you need to self-titrate with the dosage. You may be more/less sensitive to it than others. For me, 1 dropper pinch of Green Dragon gets me a great high that lasts pretty long and doesn’t leave me wanting more. To get to a good point with Golden Dragon, I usually take 2.5-3 dropper pinches.
1 dropper pinch is about a milliliter. So with 3.5 grams of Green Dragon extracted into an ounce (29.5 milliliters) of solution, you could get an awesome high each day for about a month.

No doubt anon has experienced the truth for him/herself since then. We would it were not!
A few days ago I finally got all the accessories needed to make this concoction. Using 7 grams of AVB, I made the Golden Dragon following the directions precisely. I found that I needed to keep moving the pot off the burner because the alcohol/AVB mixture was starting to boil too hard, even though at this point the water wasn’t even boiling anymore (I kept turning the heat down). My thermometer battery died in the middle of it all, so I had to rely on my judgement. I basically just let the mixture simmer while moving the pot on and off the burner regularly.
20 minutes later I was ready to strain the liquid into my other container. I used a coffee filter for this process. I wish I had had something like that white strainer the author used in the picture above because the coffee filter was too big for the container and I basically just had to hold the filter over it with my hand.
I was pleasantly surprised with the result. My concoction wasn’t as strong as I’d like (took me six droppers to get to a good point), but to be fair my AVB consisted of a quarter of dank and a half-ounce of brick weed (which gave a surprisingly good high through the MFLB vaporizer). I usually have difficulty getting a buzz from edibles and I don’t really like having to eat 3 or more cookies/brownies, so this tincture is really amazing to me. I recommend this recipe to anybody with a vaporizer, as it is a perfect way to utilize all the THC left on your AVB!
P.S. You should know the buzz is a little different than when you get it through your lungs. It’s more of a body high and you should definitely be prepared to lay around the house all day if you decide to partake. Also, my supply recently ran out and I discovered you can actually vaporize AVB and still get high, but I think it’s a better use of the herb to make this concoction because you’ll need to vape a lot of AVB to get a good high.

Mix it with some more 151 =) Alcohol tastes like crap anyway…
Wouldn’t a double boiler set up be easier than putting a glass jar in boiling water? Might make the bowl un-usable for foods… But it would be safer and easier to control the heat, least IMHO.
Is it the Golden Dragon that tastes so terrible, or the Green Dragon, or both?
Has anyone ever tried using a crock pot/slow cooker instead if a water bath. You can set the temp to exactly what you want in a crock pot…feed back?
Can’t wait to try this! if this is good, then i’ll be able to do amazing things like going travelling that just didnt appeal before if i couldnt get high! Only got about a gram of AVB, i’d better get vaping!
the mix and wait process in my experience has made a more flavorful batch using everclear and stems
